With so many different diet restrictions, intolerances, and allergies, comes a market saturated with all different types of meal replacement shakes in an attempt fit our needs. It is hard, frustrating, and expensive to try them all. So we’ve talked to a sampling of fitness buffs, as well as tried all of these ourselves, in an attempt to narrow down the best meal replacement shakes. We broke our study down to the following five categories: Whey, Vegan, Paleo, Keto, and Gluten Free.

Whey: Cabot Whey Protein

This plain, unflavored protein powder contains just two ingredients: whey protein concentrate and soy lecithin. It does not contain added vitamins, minerals or flavors. Cabot Creamery sells whey protein, cheese, and other products made from grass-fed cows. Its products are made in a gluten-free facility. The best part about this one is the fact that it is flavorless! You can incorporate into so many recipes for an extra protein boost!

Vegan: Vega One All-In-One Protein Powder

Vega One All-In-One Protein Powder

Vega advertises this as made from “real, whole food ingredients,” and those ingredients include: pea protein, pea starch, flaxseed, hemp protein, sacha inchi protein, organic gelatinized maca root, broccoli, kale, spirulina, and green algae. It also contains a blend of vegetables and fruit, such as carrots, beets, cranberries, and blueberries. It comes in eight flavors: chocolate, chocolate almond, French vanilla, mixed berry, mocha, natural, natural unsweetened, and vanilla chai. The powder is gluten-free (to less than 20 parts per million), vegan-certified, soy-free, and dairy-free. It’s made in a facility that also processes peanuts, dairy, soy, egg, and tree nuts (but not wheat). Our favorite flavor is French vanilla! It makes every smoothie extra yummy!

Paleo: PaleoPro-Paleo Protein Powder

Whey? NO WHEY! Most paleo protein powder products claiming to be “paleo” are derived from whey… but whey protein is dairy and not paleo! This protein powder is also soy free! It is made with grass-fed and pastured beef and eggs. These are air dried and ground into a fine powder. It is sold unsweetened and unflavored or naturally flavored and sweetened with monk fruit extract. You will find nothing artificial in this mix. Packing an incredible 26g of protein per serving, feed your muscles properly with this all natural protein featuring paleo ingredients!

Real Ketones Prime D+

The Keto Diet has been successfully trending, as it is a great way to burn fat for fuel instead of glucose. This state is known as Ketosis. Real Ketones Prime D+ features a “new multi-patented formula with longer-lasting cellular BHB and pure pea protein MCT for sustained ketosis. It’s twice as effective as competitor products and helps with mental focus, energy levels, mood, appetite regulation and more!” Even better, it is soy free, dairy free, gluten free, non GMO, and Vegan/Paleo/Keto friendly!

Gluten free: Ample Original

Ample

Ample provides a great balanced meal, perfect for omnivores. By combining protein, fats, fiber, organic greens, and probiotics for comprehensive nourishment.
